For 24 years I have been running classes and some of my attendees are at a level where they could be teachers as they’re very good. Over the last few months I’ve also had quite a few inquiries about running an instructor’s course, even from England.

This has made me decide to start a Qi Gong Instructor’s course, to train better teachers. This is to help spread the benefits of Qi Gong for general wellbeing and women’s health. Two specialities will be mental health and seniors. For seniors, the focus is on helping to prevent dementia. For mental wellbeing it is for the prevention of depression, anxiety, stress and other mental disorders.

The instructors will practice the forms regularly to be true professional Qi Gong teachers, along with learning the knowledge behind the forms in order to teach their own students.

The tuition requirements for the Qi Gong Instructors will be to demonstrate their mastery of the forms through practice plus several weekend retreats. Learning will be online and through the weekend retreats. Trainees will be required to practice daily and to keep a diary, noting the date, time and what they practiced.

The retreats will be an opportunity to provide deeper knowledge of the practice as well as an examination on the forms, moves and knowledge. It will also provide feedback on the level of the trainee instructor’s practice. When someone is new, they struggle with the forms as it takes time to work through the layers, going deeper and deeper. It takes exercising to the point where the moves become skillful, where you have to visualise what you are doing, and be present in the practice.
